Navix was established in 1988 as Navix Limited. At first Navix specialized in desktop publishing,
which, as a technology, was still in its infancy at the time.
Our main business was to produce manuals for use outside of
Japan. In the spring of 1991 we were one of the first companies
in Japan to install and begin using imagesetters. This was
a big step in our pioneering effort to establish a total prepress
system based on desktop publishing.
Over the years, Navix continously introduced various applications
and upgraded equipment to meet the ever changing and growing
needs of our customers. In 1992 we introduced UNIX work stations
and also began using Adobe FrameMaker®, which has become
a major production tool industry wide.
In 1994 after the addition of an A2-size, drum imagesetter
we began to output all of our film in-house. In addition,
we greatly increased the number of fonts of both Asiatic and
Romance languages and began to upgrade production infrastructure
to prepare for the eventual output of high-quality, full-color,
multilingual materials.
Also in 1994 we expanded geographically with the establishment
of Navix Thailand Company, the present N.I.C., in Bangkok,
Thailand in cooperation with companies in Singapore and others.
This was in response to the migration of manufacturing facilities
from Japan to off-shore locations. In December of 2000, Navix
Europe Limited, was established in Cardiff, Wales, UK. We
consider this office as our first foothold in Europe to support
our customers as they expand and we intend to continue development
and expansion from there on.
Navix is now in the process of developing systems using SGML
and XML to support long-document and multi-document production
especially for those customers that produce manuals and other
documents in multiple languages and covering simular but varied
consumer electronic devices.
Navix continues to stay ahead of the field through its focus
on the technology to provide the best products, while keeping
in mind the human aspects of foreign language and cultural
aspects of information production. Because of this we will
continue to advance to meet your needs in the future.
